LAWLEY LOCALS ATTEND UPDATE ON DEVELOPMENT SCHEME
The latest open day to share plans for 3,300 new homes in the Lawley area proved to be a resounding success after nearly 250 residents and MP David Wright visited the local Community Centre to see how the scheme is progressing.
Specialists including architects, remediation experts, representatives from national regeneration agency Homes and Communities Agency and the Lawley Developer Group - made up of Barratt Homes, Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes - were on hand to answer residents’ questions. Visuals detailing where the development will be built were also displayed.
The main contractor Birse Civils explained proposals for road re-alignment and representatives from Telford Steam Railway were available to discuss the extension of the Heath Hill Tunnel line and the construction of a new terminal within the new development.
Neville Stebbing, director of the Lawley Developer Group commented: "It’s clear from the turnout that residents are very keen to keep up to date with the scheme’s progress. We feel it’s extremely important to tell people how the development is continuing and inform local residents about the architectural plans and proposed traffic movement."
English Partnerships’ project manager, Lucy Allwood, added: "We were delighted to see so many people at this latest information day, and there were plenty of familiar faces from the consultation event held back in March. As it’s such a key scheme for Homes and Communities Agency it’s vital to ensure the planning process is as open as possible."
